Psychology is the heart of what we do at Pre-Emptive Healthcare. Our psychologists provide evidence-based, talk-based therapy for individuals, couples, families and children, in person in Balwyn North and via telehealth across Australia.
Psychologists have a psychology degree and specialise in talk-based therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR and Schema Therapy. They help you understand patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and build practical, evidence-based strategies for change.
Unlike psychiatrists, psychologists are not medical doctors and do not prescribe medication. Many people benefit from both, and at Pre-Emptive our psychologists, psychiatrists and dietitian work closely together under one roof.
Medicare rebates: you can self-refer to a psychologist without a GP referral. However, with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP you can access Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Read more on our Fees & Rebates page, or see our GP referral guide.
