Psychologist Shannon De Fry

Provisional Psychologist, Shannon De Fry, is currently completing his Master of Professional Psychology degree. Through his studies, he has developed skills in a range of evidence-based practices and is now focused on applying these in a clinical setting. He has experience working in community-based mental health settings, where he supported young people in managing several different challenges. Additionally, Shannon’s research into substance use disorders has given him a strong understanding of substance dependence, improving his practice in this area. 

Shannon has a particular interest in supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and Autism, working alongside them to help navigate challenges and build on their strengths. As someone with lived experience of ADHD, Shannon brings both professional knowledge and personal understanding to his work, offering genuine empathy and practical assistance. He is also passionate about providing a non-judgmental and supportive space for individuals with substance-use difficulties. 

Shannon’s therapeutic approach draws on evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and tailors his work to the unique needs and goals of each individual. A holistic view is central to his practice, considering the biological, psychological, and social factors that may shape a client’s situation. He brings a compassionate, calm, and committed approach, valuing genuine and collaborative therapeutic relationships that support and empower his clients.
