WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY?

Confidentiality is assured for all clients, as dictated by the Australian Psychology Association Code of Ethics. The only reason for disclosure of personal information is when

  1. It is subpoenaed by a court
  2. Failure to disclose the information would place you or another person at serious risk to life, health or safety
  3. Your consent has been obtained

Further information about Confidentiality and Consent can be found in our Consent Form upon your initial consultation. If you have any concerns or questions, please discuss this with your clinician and they will be more than happy to clarify this for you.

WHAT IS THE OUT-OF-POCKET COST PER SESSION?

The fees vary depending on your clinician and unique situation. For further information on fees, we advise you to contact the clinic.

WILL MY PRIVATE HEALTH FUND COVER MY SESSION?

It will depend on your level of cover. You will need to check with your Health Fund to make sure you are covered.

HOW MANY SESSIONS CAN I HAVE WITH A GP REFERRAL?

A GP referral to see a Clinical Psychologist, otherwise known as a Mental Health Care Plan, is created by your GP which initially includes six sessions. If you require further sessions after the initial six sessions, your doctor can refer you for a further four sessions under the Mental Health Care Plan Review. You are eligible for a total of ten Medicare rebatable sessions per calendar year.

Please note: as of January 2023, the Australian Government is no longer offering the additional ten COVID-19 sessions.

A GP can refer you to a Dietitian under different Medicare-supported plans, depending on your needs. Under a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM), also known as an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan, you may be eligible for up to five Medicare-rebatable sessions with a dietitian over a 12-month period.

For individuals with a diagnosed eating disorder, an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDTP) may provide access to up to 20 Medicare-rebatable sessions with a Dietitian and 40 sessions with a Clinical Psychologist over a 12-month period, if deemed appropriate by your healthcare provider.

Always check with your GP to determine the best plan for your individual circumstances.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT BEFORE MY FIRST SESSION?

After booking your first appointment, our administration team will send you a confirmation email with your appointment details and an attached Consent Form for you to review beforehand. This allows you time to consider speaking with your GP about a referral, prepare any questions, and reach out to us if needed.

On the day of your appointment, we recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork before your session begins.

DOES PRE-EMPTIVE HEALTHCARE HAVE A CANCELLATION POLICY?

Pre-Emptive Healthcare has a 48 hour cancellation/rescheduling policy, fees apply. Please advise our administration team should you need to reschedule or cancel as it allows us to fill that appointment for someone else in need or on our waitlist. We appreciate you letting us know as soon as possible.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

It would depend on where you would like to see yourself after therapy. Everyone has a different timeline and your unique goal can be discussed with your clinician, where you both can collaboratively work together and see what type of therapy best suits you. Generally, people start off attending on a weekly or fortnightly basis and decrease the frequency once they have started to see improvements.

CAN I BOOK A VIDEO OR PHONE APPOINTMENT?

Yes, Pre-Emptive Healthcare offers both services. Please see how you can prepare for a Telehealth session here.
